Counseling for Teens
I have experience working with teens struggling with:
Anxiety
Depression (including suicidal ideation)
Grief and loss
Family dynamics
Peer relationships
Romantic relationships
Gender identity
Sexual orientation
Academic pressure/performance
Drug and alcohol use
The fact that I show up authentically resonates with teens. I've been told by teen clients that I am easy to talk to and that I make them feel accepted and safe. I don't see myself as the expert on your life, you are. I'm here to try to understand your lens on the world, support your exploration of who you are and help you get in touch with your worthiness.
I can help you develop tools to work with your emotions and have a deeper understanding of what makes you, you. I will teach you how to work with your thoughts, your body and your emotions. I can also help you develop more self-care and organizational skills. The goal is to help you create the life you want.
Note to Parents/Guardians... In order for therapy to be successful with any individual, confidentiality needs to be respected, even in the case of a minor. I make exceptions when the minor is in danger or if the minor is a danger to self or others. There are times when I may collaborate with parents/guardians with the goal of helping them explore new ways to support their child. Doing so must be in the best interest of the minor and when the he/she/they has given me permission to do so.
