I've been there...
I want to share with you is that I have the experience of being a client in both individual therapy and couples counseling. My journey in therapy led me to become a therapist as my second career. I'm sharing this with you for a couple of reasons:
1) I understand that it can feel awkward or uncomfortable to share personal things with someone you don't know. I also know that for some of you, it will feel like a relief. Whether you feel ambivalent about being in therapy or all in, that's okay with me.
2) I can meet you and get to know you in your darkest places. I truly believe in the therapeutic process from my own experience as a client and my work as a therapist.
My Background & My Work
I have been married for over 20 years and I am a parent. After a career as a consultant, I earned a Masters in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies. I completed my traineeship at the Pierce Street Integral Counseling Center and completed my internship at the Grateful Heart Holistic Therapy Center.
I have an integrative approach, meaning we will work with how your emotions, memories and thoughts show up in both your mind and body. I also use mindfulness and cognitive behavioral techniques in my work.
I want to know about your family history. Our family system shapes our beliefs about ourselves and the world and how we do (or don’t) take care of ourselves. Our family is the first model for our relationships. My focus is on understanding how your history plays out in your life today. This awareness can lead you to a more fulfilling life.
